I. GENERAL INFORMATION

• Position: Carbon Credit Project Specialist

• Department: R&D Division, Carbon Credit Project Department

• Reports to: Carbon Credit Project Manager

• Workplace: Léman Building, 20 Truong Dinh St., Vo Thi Sau Ward, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City

II. JOB OBJECTIVES

• Project Development: Successfully manage a portfolio of 3-5 carbon credit projects at different development stages.

• Successful Registration: Ensure 1-2 new projects per year are successfully validated and registered under international standards (Verra, Gold Standard).

• Credit Issuance: Achieve the targeted issuance of carbon credits from managed projects to meet the company’s business plan.

III. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Evaluation and Selection:

   • Develop technical and financial models to assess project feasibility.

   • Conduct field surveys and collaborate with project owners to collect detailed information.

   • Prepare pre-feasibility reports and present them to the company’s Investment Committee.

2. Project Documentation Development:

   • Take primary responsibility for drafting the Project Design Document (PDD) in English, ensuring compliance with standard templates and requirements.

   • Perform complex baseline, additionality, leakage, and emission reduction calculations.

3. Validation and Registration Management:

   • Act as the main point of contact, managing the entire process of working with independent validation bodies (DOE/VVB).

   • Prepare explanatory documents, respond to Clarification Requests (CRs) or Findings from the DOE.

4. Monitoring and Verification:

   • Design and implement Monitoring Plans at project sites.

   • Coordinate with field technical teams to ensure accurate and complete data collection and storage.

   • Compile Monitoring Reports and manage the verification process for credit issuance.

5. Research and Updates:

   • Monitor and analyze changes in methodologies of international standards.

   • Research new project types, especially Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and technological solutions.

IV. QUALIFICATIONS / COMPETENCIES

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in Environmental Science, Energy, Forestry, Agriculture, or Engineering.

• Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of specialized experience in carbon credit project development.

  • Must have hands-on experience leading at least 1 project from PDD drafting to successful registration under Verra or Gold Standard.

  • Direct experience working with validation/verification bodies (DOE/VVB) is mandatory.

• Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of the project lifecycle under Verra-VCS or Gold Standard.

  • Deep technical knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Renewable Energy (wind, solar), Biomass, Biogas, REDD+, Afforestation.

• Skills:

  • Excellent project management skills, proficient in tools like MS Project, Trello, Asana.

  • Expert-level technical writing skills in English.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

VI. CAREER DEVELOPMENT PATH

• Stage 1 (1-2 years): Specialist → Senior Specialist, capable of managing a portfolio of multiple projects.

• Stage 2 (3-5 years): Lead Technical Expert or Project Manager, Department Head of Carbon Credit Projects.
